NEET PG 2022:Counseling Delay, Aspirants Raise Concerns

A number of NEET PG aspirants requested authorities to postpone the exam, for an extra 40 days, as it is clashing with ongoing counseling.

In recent months, there has been a discussion about whether or not to postpone Medical PG exams. This follows reports that the counselling process is being delayed.

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test will take place on September 1th, so exam takers have some time to find out whether they have qualified for postgraduate school of their choice.

NEET PG Candidates are requesting that the NEET PG 2022 exam be delayed by 40 days so it does not clash with ongoing counselling for NEET PG 2021. The aspirants have written to PMO and even asked for support from political leaders and medical groups and associations.

The Supreme Court dismissed the petition because it is important that the NEET PG 2021 exams are held on time and end without disruption. This would make sure that there isn’t a lack of healthcare for patients.

They said there would be chaos if the exam was moved to another date and that there would be a shortage of doctors in hospitals.

“The fundamental issue is that our Minister of Health does not comprehend our issues because he lacks a training in medicine. He is unaware of the effort required to prepare for these tests; an outsider would not comprehend the time, money, health, and resources we devote to them” , according to Dr. Kajal Dande.

Many students are anxious that the NBE may delay the second counselling, leaving students with little time to prepare.

“Due to delays in the counselling process, students will have to prepare for the upcoming NEET PG examination without the help of any prior counseling sessions. The program typically starts in January, but will not be possible due the delaying of this year’s counselling session. They feel as though they have been cheated by the ministry officials” , according to Dr. Rohan Krishnan.

“There is nothing that can be done at this time because the exam has already been completed, according to Dr. R Dinesh Kumar Reddy, who wrote to the PMO in May. However, since it costs money and resources to file a lawsuit now, we are unable to do so since as students, we have lost all hope and given up. It will resemble an endless circle.”

Some  students have reservations about changing the National Entrance and Eligibility Test (NEET) to the National Exit Test (NEXT). They fear that the NBE will not give them enough time before they decide to give NEXT, instead of NEET.

Dr. Rohan Krishnan says that students need six months of preparation time with some mock exams to understand the new National Exit Test.
