NTA issues NEET PG Exam Pattern along with the information brochure. PG or the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Postgraduate) is a national exam that decides your eligibility for entrance into more than 100 colleges for 12,690 Master of Surgery (MS), 24,360 Doctor of Medicine (MD), and 922 PG Diploma seats. As per the latest official update, the NEET PG 2021 exam date has been announced. It will take place on 11th September 2021. To pass NEET PG, one has to study through a humongous syllabus, and the preparation phase can be immensely hectic.

NEET PG 2021 Exam Pattern

• The conducting body of the NEET PG 2021 examination is the NBE (National Board of Examination) which also determines the exam pattern for the exam. 
• NEET-PG is an online computer-based test.
• The exam will finish in a single session on a single day across the nation.
• The entrance exam in 2020 contained 300 objective types of questions based on 15 different topics. However, the recent announcement, the total number of questions has been reduced to 200 for this year’s examination.
• Three hours and 30 minutes is the estimated time given to the candidates to complete the exam.
• The exam will be in the English language.
• The question paper will have segregation into three parts with unequal lengths – Part A, Part B, and Part C. There will be 50 questions in Part A, 50 questions in Part B, and Part C is the lengthiest with 100 questions.
• For the marking scheme, candidates will be awarded four marks for every correct answer, and a deduction of one point from the final score for every question answered incorrectly.

NEET PG 2021 Syllabus

NEET PG Syllabus is based on the latest Graduate Medical Education Regulations (GMER) issued by the Medical Council of India (MCI). The NEET PG 2021 syllabus will transcend all three umbrella subjects of Pre-Clinical, Para-Clinical, and Clinical. The approximate weightage and the number of questions for each of the topics were released by NBE (National Board Of Examination) back at the beginning of the year when the total number of questions was 300. However, with the postponement of the NEET PG 2021 examination and the number of questions being reduced to 200, the new segregation is yet to be announced. 

As the NEET PG 2021 paper will be carried out in a computer-based mode, the questions will be displayed on the computer screen section-wise. The paper will test the knowledge and skills that candidates are expected to already have after going through 4.5 years of medical school. During 3 hours, 30 minutes, and three parts (Part A, Part B, and Part C), each containing 50, 50, and 100 MCQs, respectively, the candidates will have to prove themselves multiple times across multiple levels of testing. So, it would be best to go through the section-wise and subject-wise syllabus to prepare an action plan for NEET PG 2021.

The section-wise division of all the subjects gives you a general idea of the importance different topics hold. For example, in section A, you only have biochemistry, anatomy, and physiology, which means that if you cement your basics, you can aim to answer 45 out of those 50 questions correctly.

FAQ’S (Frequently Asked Questions)

Question: Can anyone change the exam center if they are unhappy with the allotted center?

Answer: Unfortunately, NBE (National Board Of Examination) does not entertain any requests for a change of testing center.

Question: Will there be a clear differentiation in questions from different subjects, or can multiple subjects be combined?

Answer: There are a planned number of questions to be asked from each subject, but the emphasis will be more on clinical questions, and to answer them, one must combine their knowledge from multiple topics.

Question: When will I get the opportunity to select the exam centers?

Answer: When filling the application form, you will be given the option to list your three city choices for exam centers. Make sure that you fill the exam form correctly because you would not change anything later on.
