Dr. Govind Nandakumar, a gastroenterologist at Manipal Hospitals, was en route to perform an urgent laparoscopic gallbladder surgery on August 30 when traffic backed up.

Dr. Nandakumar realized that a delay might endanger the female patient, so he ran three kilometers to accomplish the required surgery. Even on Instagram, he posted a quick video of his run.

As soon as he reached the hospital, Dr. Nandakumar’s team, who was prepared to put the patient under Anaesthesia, began to work. The doctor immediately changed into surgical gear and started the treatment.

The procedure went well, and the patient was promptly released from the hospital.

“I travel daily from Bangalore’s downtown to Manipal Hospitals, Sarjapur, which is located in the southeast of the city. I left home in plenty of time for the procedure. As soon as I got to the hospital, my team was ready and waiting to start the procedure. I made the quick decision to get out of the car with the driver after noticing the heavy traffic and go toward the hospital,” Dr Nandakumar

Dr. Nandkumar works as a gastroenterology consultant at Manipal Hospitals. Since the patient had a gallbladder issue for a very long time, surgery was necessary.
