NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL UPDATES

• Dr Reddy’s gets a USFDA nod for the Lenalidomide capsule, a generic version of Celgene’s Revlimid, which is used to treat Multiple myeloma. 
• New Law: The medical termination of pregnancy (amendment) rules, 2021 defines eligibility criteria for termination of pregnancy up to 24 weeks (earlier it was 20 weeks). This includes the categories, survivors of sexual assault, rape or incest, minors, women with physical disabilities and mentally ill women.
• WHO: Clinical case definition of post covid condition, it occurs in individuals with a history of probable wor confirmed Sars-CoV-2 infection, usually 3 months from its onset with symptoms, lasts for at least two months and cannot be explained by an alternative category.
• The Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine was awarded jointly to David Julius and ardem patapoutian for their discoveries of receptors for temperature and touch. The results of their work is related to how to reduce the chronic and acute pain associated with diseases. 
• WHO approves the first malaria vaccine, manufactured by GSK pharma.

• Medicine Simplified 10th Edition was launched.

• We had started a series of LIVE Sessions on Life of a PG Resident.
