NATIONAL MEDICAL UPDATES

  • KEM Hospital dean Dr Hemant Deshmukh, an interventional radiologist, gets a US patent for a ‘stent’ that aids weight loss. He thought of the device while fixing narrowed blood vessels around the small intestine.
  • Drug firm Laurus Labs has received a licence from Defence Research and Development Organisation to manufacture and market COVID-19 treatment drug 2-Deoxy-D-Glucose (2DG). 2DG has been given emergency approval by the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) for use on COVID-19 patients in the country, Laurus Labs said in a regulatory filing.

NEWER DRUGS

  • Drug firm Zydus Cadila has received approval from the USFDA to market generic Emtricitabine and Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate tablets used for the treatment of HIV infection. Emtricitabine and Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate tablets, 100 mg/150 mg, 133 mg/200 mg and 167 mg/250 mg.
  • Drug firm Alembic Pharmaceuticals has received approval for its abbreviated new drug application (ANDA) for Nitrofurantoin capsules, USP in the strengths of 25 mg, 50 mg and 100 mg from the USFDA indicated for the treatment of urinary tract infections. 
  • AstraZeneca Gets USFDA approval For Once-Weekly Diabetes Drug Bydureon For Kids as young as aged 10-year to 18-year olds who have type-2 diabetes Chemically called exenatide, the drug is an injectable suspension.
  • Mumbai based Glenmark Pharma has got approval for marketing antidiabetic fixed-dose combination (FDC) drug Remogliflozin etabonate plus Teneligliptin hydrobromide hydrate from the subject expert committee(SEC) of the Central drug control organization (CDSCO).
  • Sun pharma has got a go-ahead from the subject expert committee(SEC) of the central drugs standard control organization (CDSCO) for the manufacturing and marketing of tetracosactide injection 250 mcg/ml (40IU) which is a diagnostic agent used in the screening of the patients presumed to have adrenocortical insufficiency.

EDUCATION

  • No MBBS student should be prevented from Classes Over Non-Payment Of Fee: Kerala HC. Issuing notices to the state and private medical colleges management association, the Kerala High Court on Friday directed the government to ensure that no MBBS students in their respective institutions should be prevented from attending classes solely for a reason of non-payment of MBBS fees. The Court was hearing a plea by the parents of the second-year medical students against the Self-Financing Medical Colleges who are asking the students to pay the fees of the third year in advance.

  • We conducted a LIVE Mega Session with our legendary faculties and DBMCI SUPER 30 Group on our official YouTube channel. Almost everyone from the group has achieved commendable ranks.
  • Announced FMGE Surgery Recall Questions, Absolutely FREE on eGurukul App.
  • Provided FREE Access to our FMGE Advance Package on the eGurukul App for 2 days (9th and 10th July 2021).
  • Conducted INI-CET Mock, FREE for All. The exam simulated the real exam pattern.
  • The National Board of Examinations (NBE) has announced a tentative schedule for all the upcoming exams.
  • Conducted a successful Face to Face class in Ahmedabad. 
  • Announced and acknowledged that Dr. Nachiket Bhatia will be sharing his Entrepreneurial Journey at TEDx AIIMS Patna in the first week of September 2021.

Ongoing Plans

  • We have started “Question of the Day” for all FMGE aspirants. We will be posting 1 latest pattern question in the evening daily on social media.
  • Dr. Niha Agarwal will be conducting a series of Clinical Questions Discussion Sessions of Ophthalmology every Friday at 7 PM on DBMCI YouTube Channel.
  • Launched FMGE Test Series on eGurukul App to target FMGE December 2021.

Upcoming Plans

  • NEET PG 2021 exam dates have been announced. The exam will take place on 11th September 2021.
  • The Grand Computer Live Test (GCLT) will be on 14th August 2021 ( From 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM). Now you can make your attempt in the labs again and get exposure to the real exam atmosphere.
  • We will be Launching Advance Package 2.0 with Free Notes (1 Year Plan)
